Are you on the Right Path?

You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore. Psalm 16:11

What does it mean when God says He makes known to us the path of life?

Path being the operative word, because our lives are actually played out in the forms of paths or branches in our brain that have developed overtime. Our foundational and core belief system leads to thoughts, which lead to behaviors, which over time create habits. This process creates physical pathways or branches in our brain which send signals to our mind to help us make decisions and filter thoughts that influence our behaviors

The reality is that we are traveling pathways unknowingly on a daily basis. These pathways lead you to destructive behaviors or to fruitful behaviors. The outcome depends on the path you choose to follow. You have two options, the worlds which leads to destruction or God’s which leads to life lived abundantly. We should all be choosing life and living everyday to make sure we are walking the proper path.

I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live, loving the Lord your God, obeying His voice and holding fast to Him, for He is your life and length of your days, that you may dwell in the land that the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them. Deuteronomy 30:19-20

How do we know we are following the right or wrong path and how do we begin to follow the correct path?

First and foremost we know what path we are on according to the fruit we are producing.

So every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus you will recognize them by their fruits. Matthew 7:17-20

No one is fully aligned with God’s path, that is why He has revealed to us in scripture how to renew our minds and transform. But how do we begin the process of renewal which aligns our whole selves onto God’s path?

First, recognize the areas that are producing bad fruit.

For the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true. Ephesians 5:9

Second, ask God to teach you His path.

Make me to know your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long. Psalm 25:4-5

Third, renew your mind with God’s truths and begin your transformation.

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:2
